The New Year begins with a bang, and with it comes a series of resolutions, most of which are slowly forgotten as the days get longer, moods get better, and our healthier spring habits develop.
But if you're like Team Kelsey and find the New Year a little "dry" and party-y, and aren't all that excited about fighting tight, dry skin that's in dire need of some serious pampering, then read on.
Winter brings with it seasonal festivities, cozy fires and central heating, and is a wonderful time of respite, a time to regroup, revive flagging energy, renew our commitment to ourselves, slow down and focus on friends and family.
So it’s no surprise that with so much to embrace, we forget to pay attention to our skin and then realize January is over and with it comes thirsty skin covered in dry, itchy patches Blocks, dullness, and tightness, and resulted in frantic Google searches for the “best moisturizer.”
The first thing to do is hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Yes, drinking water can be tiring, but aside from skin care, drinking water is the best way to achieve a plump, radiant complexion.
Do you hate plain water?
Garnish it with a sprig of rosemary (great for improving focus and concentration), or add some vitamin C-rich lime and lemon slices and leave it on your desk while you work.
If possible, also turn off or turn down the central heating in your bedroom, as this can dry out your skin significantly overnight.
Then get serious about your skin care to survive the post-vacation woes. Switching to a gentler cleanser can help (get rid of the harsh sulfates!) and adding gentle exfoliants can remove surface cells so your treatments and moisturizers can better penetrate the skin.
Our glow-in-the-dark cleanser is enriched with natural AHAs that gently exfoliate without drying or irritating, and uses gentle coconut cleansers combined with glycerin to attract and retain moisture.
Secondly, and crucially, now is the time to cut back on harsh or astringent products and add oils or concentrates to combat dry patches and reduce redness by soothing the skin barrier. The beauty of facial oils is that they can also be added to your favorite day cream, night cream, or primer to enhance radiance and give skin a gorgeous glow.

On cloudy days, we'll add a drop of Full Bloom Concentrate to our foundation to provide the perfect glow while boosting moisture levels.
Full Bloom is enriched with bioavailable EZ Rubus ID® Raspberry Seed Oil, which is rich in essential fatty acids and squalane, one of the best moisturizing ingredients for dry skin.
Together they help strengthen the skin's barrier while providing intense hydration during the colder months.
Our real insider tip, however, is to apply the essential oil/concentrate to damp skin that’s not completely dry yet. Yes, it sounds weird, but oil binds moisture to the skin's surface and provides long-lasting hydration for optimal softness.
To add the icing on the skin-care cake, apply a final layer of a rich, hydrating night mask or cream after your oils, then gently apply until all the product is absorbed before placing in the bag.
Happy hydrating everyone and welcoming 2023!
